We want to thank everyone for the great response to our last newsletter, Part One of our annual Toy Fair report The Elephant in the Playroom: What's Happening at American Girl® and Mattel? We'll be releasing more of our Toy Fair report very soon. But this week, we have a very special treat for you: a new free craft pattern from craftmeister "Lee"!
Make adorable doll accessories with this FREE knitting pattern Easy Garter Stitch Knitted Slippers for 18" Dolls
Winter is definitely going out like a lion this year. But we've kept doll toesies warm here in the workroom testing this new craft.
Are you looking for a super-cute and super-easy knitting pattern for 18" dolls? These slippers knit up in no time flat, and can be made out of odds and ends of ordinary worsted-weight yarn.
In designing this pattern, craftmeister "Lee" was inspired by the slippers our mother made for us when we were kids. Our mom's vintage slippers were made from red wool using a similar garter-stitch-only pattern, and she decorated them with braided wool ties.
Here's a pair we made with pale blue acrylic, with 1/8" satin ribbon threaded in and out of the stitches around the ankle, and tied in a pretty bow in front.
Here's another pair that we made out of sea-green wool, decorated with fluffy, yellow-and-ivory homemade pom-poms. We made these pom-poms using one of our favorite doll-scale craft tools, the Clover Extra Small Pom-Pom Maker, available in stores and HERE on Amazon.
Give this fun knitting pattern a try and you may find you've whipped up half a dozen pairs before you even know it!
