Last month, "Lee" carefully weighed, measured and catalogued every one of the 100-plus bolts of 100% silk organza in our recent estate purchase of traditional Korean silks. Then "Pearl" organized those bolts into five themed color groupings, with coordinating tones in each group — and released the multi-half-yard kits that we've all been enjoying since.

Those kits are still available in the Fabric & Trim Kits Section of our Etsy store, and they're still a wonderful way to explore this lovely craft-and-couture fabric.

But now "Pearl" has completed the sales prep for all of those 100-plus bolts by carefully photographing each one under daylight photography lights, with neutral reference points for perfect color reproduction.

So we're happy to announce that as of this morning, by-the-yard listings are posted in our Etsy store that include each and every color.

We know that it can be hard to judge color exactly on screen monitors, especially when you're trying to choose between so many different colors using only the tiny mosaic pictures on a single listing.

So instead of posting all 100-plus colors in a single listing, we've created five by-the-yard listings using the same themed color collections that we created for the pre-cut kits. This allows us to include good size photos of each color (above) along with the every-color mosaics (below).

Here's a reminder — if you're used to working with polyester organza, please forget everything you think you know about this fabric.

Working with 100% silk organza is nothing like working with polyester organza. Silk organza is a lightweight but very crisp and sturdy translucent fabric that doesn't unravel easily, cuts and pins with ordinary sharp tools, runs through the sewing machine like a dream, steams gently into billowing folds — or presses absolutely flat like paper. This fabric makes beautiful modern, historical and traditional garments and crafts for dolls or humans — like stunning Korean pojagi patchwork quilting and trendy, translucent coats and jackets. It's also the ideal fabric base for couture embellishments like flower making, tambour embroidery, beadwork, lace appliqués and fabric painting or dye stamping.
