Look who's making... Pattern 1078: Village Dance Peasant Style Ballet Bodice and Detachable Apron!
We're so excited with the response to our latest pattern, Pattern 1078: Village Dance Peasant Style Ballet Bodice and Detachable Apron for Dolls!
Within days of the pattern release, we received a glowing review that included the most wonderful photos of a doll we’d never seen before wearing the bodice — and a "peasant style" version of our Pattern 1072: Corps de Ballet Romantic Tutu.
How gorgeous is that?!
We eagerly contacted the customer — Annika of AnnikaCrafts5A on Etsy — for more details, and we’re so thrilled that she wanted us to share them with you!
Annika told us that the doll is a Paola Reina Las Amigas, customized by artist Alex Berg. Though the Paola Reina Las Amigas typically have 13" bodies, this doll has a fully-poseable articulated body made by Korean company Kokobini, so she is a little taller than the standard dolls.
Annika used the 14 1/2" doll versions of our Peasant Bodice and Romantic Tutu patterns, and she's happy to report that neither the bodice nor the tutu required any alterations to fit this doll!
We particularly love the interesting layered look Annika achieved with her mix of upcycled textured fabrics and patterns.
Annika told us that recycling human clothes into doll clothes is her passion, and we heartily approve. (We love doing it, too!)
The blouse part of her doll's bodice is made of lightweight peach cotton and the faux corset is made out of dark brown cotton with a vertical textured pattern. The apron embroidery used to be a decoration on a human shirt and the top layer of the "peasant style" Romantic tutu is a lightweight polyester silky fabric that sports a lively geometric pattern. Layers of light brown nylon tulle peek out from under that top layer, delicately rounding out the look.
According to Annika, "I don't really have any method for choosing fabrics. I just go through my crazy stash and see what I like together."
We think that's a terrific method as we love these fabrics together, too!
Just when we thought this couldn't get any cuter, Annika shared a link to a video she made trying this outfit out on lots of other dolls as well. Check it out:

Don't wait if you want to buy it. This outfit is a one-of-a-kind handmade creation. When it's sold out, there may never be another.
Though we created Pattern 1078: Village Dance as a mix-and-match style to coordinate with our other ballet patterns, we love that people are finding inspiration for outfits using this charming bodice pattern that go beyond dance.
We hope to see many more such looks as this bodice lends itself so well to folk, fantasy, cosplay and even casual wear in the popular "cottagecore" style.
Cottagecore looks are so popular now, aren't they? Here's a super cute version of that style that we spotted last week in an email from Ruby Red Toys announcing a new line of 11" dolls wearing outfits designed by fans. This one is the Create Your Dream Doll Marina.
Now with the Lee & Pearl Peasant Bodice pattern, you can create YOUR dream doll looks as well!
